On March 25 and 26, 2025, the ENERGETIC BRIDGE General Assembly 2025 project took part in the BRIDGE General Assembly in Brussels -a key meeting point for European projects driving innovation in smart grids, energy storage, and system integration. This assembly served as a pivotal platform for showcasing advancements in energy technologies that are shaping a sustainable future for Europe.
Bringing Battery Innovation into the BRIDGE Dialogue
The ENERGETIC team was pleased to actively contribute to two of the breakout working groups:
1) Consumer & Citizen Engagement Working Group – where participants got to explore how end-users can be better integrated into the battery value chain, from understanding flexibility to building trust in digital tools.
2) Regulation Working Group – which brought forward important discussions around the policy and market conditions required to unlock the full potential of battery management technologies.
We particularly appreciated the insights shared by Michael Brenner-Fließer, Chair of the Consumer & Citizen Engagement Working Group, who emphasised:
“We can’t ask citizens to adapt to the energy system—we need to adapt the system around citizens, with the right incentives and transparency.”
These themes resonate strongly with ENERGETIC’s mission to develop next-generation Battery Management Systems (BMS) that are not only technically advanced but also aligned with real-world user needs and regulatory realities.

A Valuable Exchange with the NEMO Project
A particularly rewarding moment was the opportunity to connect in person with representatives from the NEMO project—one of our fellow members of the BMS Alliance. This meeting fostered deeper collaboration, allowing us to compare methodologies and discuss common challenges. While our collaboration usually happens online, this in-person exchange offered time to reflect on shared challenges, complementary approaches, and upcoming touchpoints for potential cooperation.
“Discussing with the NEMO project team face-to-face gave us new energy. It’s encouraging to see that, even with different technical focuses, our objectives are clearly aligned when it comes to smarter, more sustainable battery systems,” shared Matthias Jousseaume, Work Package leader for communication and dissemination of the ENERGETIC project. This sentiment reflects the collaborative spirit that is vital for driving innovation within the energy sector.
Learning from Europe’s Energy Leaders
The BRIDGE General Assembly also featured thought-provoking keynotes and policy updates. Among the standout moments was the intervention by Karsten Krause, Head of Sector at DG ENER, who highlighted Europe’s progress in clean energy innovation:
“The BRIDGE initiative is proving that collaboration is key and that projects like yours are the cornerstone of Europe’s energy transition.”
This statement encapsulated the overall ethos of the assembly, illustrating how collaborative efforts can yield significant advancements in energy technologies and policies.
We also appreciated the opportunity to hear from technical leaders and policy experts about the next phase of EU research priorities, digitalisation strategies, and funding opportunities to bring innovation to market.

We are moving forward !
The ENERGETIC team returns from Brussels with fresh perspectives, new connections, and a renewed sense of purpose. Participation in events like the BRIDGE General Assembly is a vital part of how we ensure that the technologies we are developing are aligned with user expectations, supported by policy, and grounded in real system needs.
We look forward to applying these insights as we continue advancing battery management innovation in Europe.
